One of the many facets of God’s character gets powerfully portrayed through the majestic bird known as the eagle. From the Assyrians to the Americans, the eagle has been adopted as a symbol to represent their rule because of what it symbolizes; royalty, victory, power, courage, strength and vision.
It’s written in the book of Isaiah 40:31 “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Perhaps you are in ministry or business and you feel burnt out, discouraged or visionless… God wants you to know something, you may have run out of strength, but you don’t have to stay out of strength. You don’t need to go through life without a sense of purpose.
Redeemed As Spiritual Eagles
Every son of God has been redeemed as a spiritual eagle. You are connected to a lineage of royalty. You have prophetic visionary abilities and authority just like the eagle that fearlessly soars through the open skies.
In the book of Revelations 4:6-8, the apostle John meaningfully mentions a vision he received by the Spirit. The vision comprises a few essential elements, namely the throne of God, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders (representing the Church) that surround it. He gives a description of the anatomy of the living creatures. They are each created with many eyes. Eyes are a function of their visionary ability, the source of their spiritual intelligence and the reason for their jurisdiction dominion. John further describes their appearance; individually each also possesses six wings. Wings symbolize strength, stability and endurance.
The apostle continues to observe how each of the four living creatures have heads that symbolize the face of a lion, the face of an ox, the face of a man and the face of a flying eagle. Through their visionary faculties (eyes), each receives spiritual intelligence of God’s character, unique to their form. For instance, the eagle gets the revelation of all of the prophetic elements of the eagle in God’s nature. He would then transmit these insights to the twenty-four elders. In their response, they would prostrate in worship before God for two reasons; firstly, the revelation of God’s royal nature and secondly, their link to the same royal lineage (“like the eagle”).
You have a connection to the lineage of God’s royalty. As God’s children, we need to know deeply about this kingly (eagle) lineage that we have and need to remind ourselves of it daily, especially when we feel worthless, because of the devil’s empty threats to our soulish realm; to deprecate the spirit of the eagle in us. Royals are always taught to behave and live like royalty, which is totally different from the way people live outside of it. We are in the world, but not of the world (John 17:11–16).
As sons of God, there are seven revelations of the eagle that God desires us to discern. Discerning is not (always) for discussion; whether others believe it or not is irrelevant. What matters is what you discern about what God says about you. Discernment is for instruction and instruction is for direction.
(1) Eagles Have Impressive Vision
Firstly, eagles use their impressive vision to spot their prey and discern their enemy.
Look at this description in the book of Job 39:27–29, “…the eagle mounts up and makes his nest on high. From there it searches for prey; …its eyes penetrate the distance.”
An eagle can peer distances of about 70 kilometers to spot its prey. It also does something else that’s remarkable; it makes its nest high on the mountaintops. The only other creature that is able to slither its way up there to destroy the eagle’s seed and future is the “snake.” But the eagle can discern its enemy before it even realizes it. This visionary ability gives the eagle dominion in the realm of the sky. Its ability to see (vision) and discern (instruction), makes this bird the king of the sky.
Likewise, every child of God carries the same redemptive qualities of the eagle. You can see God’s intended plan for the future (Dan 2:25-25) and discern all the devices of the enemy of these plans (Acts 13:36, 2 Cor. 2:11). Vision gives you dominion. If God gives you a vision, it also means, God has given you dominion. You have dominion in two worlds, the spirit world and natural world.
If you are in business and have a product or service with a vision to reach a city, or a continent, or the world, then you have the capacity to dominate your circumstances and situations. Dominion exists in the realm of invincibility. Dominion is a dimension that enables you to dictate to demonic spirits. I declare from this moment forth, anything that is harassing you shall no longer harass you. In the name of Jesus!
Still further, eagles have peripheral (360º) vision because of the location of their eyeballs on their foreheads. All eagle leaders see in front, on the side and behind them. All great leaders possess intelligence, not only of the future, but their present and their history. If you forget your history, you would lose your humility. Authority is sustained through humility. If you forget your beginning, you forfeit your ending.
(2) Eagles Don’t Eat Dead Meat
The dominion of the eagle is the function of strength, and the strength of the eagle is a function of the quality of meat it feeds on.
Consider this insight in Hebrews 12:1, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight (wrong diet), and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.” Notice the part that says, “…lay aside every weight.” What causes weight? The wrong spiritual diet!
Dead meat means denied destiny. If your diet is wrong, your destiny will be denied.
It also says, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.”
Where does faith come from? The Word of God! The Word of God is your spiritual diet and without it, you cannot run and win in the game of life! You cannot eat at the level of a duck (spiritually) and expect to have dominion as an eagle.
(3) Eagles Learn By Observation
The Kingdom of Heaven functions on the principle of observation.
Even Jesus was mentored by another – He observed the leading of the Holy Spirit; the Spirit observed the leading of the Father. Only the Father observed no one because there is none above God. In John 5:19 it says: “So Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing by Himself unless He sees the Father doing it. For whatever the Father does, the Son also does.” Vision is nurtured by role-model influence. Unless you have a role-model or a mentor who is nurturing you, it is impossible to fulfil your destiny.
Eaglets spiritedly observe their parents. They understand their parents have already achieved what they still need to achieve and have already become who they still need to become. By associating with their parents or by observing their parents, they undergo a process called “IMPRINTING!”
Imprinting occurs through the special bond the eaglet creates with their parents at birth, or with the first moving object they observe. The moment they are born, they bond with the first object they see… regardless of whether it’s their parents, a human or a tennis ball. It is through this association a ‘Role-Model Influence’ occurs.
Eagle leaders understand that when they get born again, they need to attach to Christ. “Come” was the encouraging instruction initiated from mentor Jesus to protégé Peter, enabling him to do something no else dared to do! It is imperative to go through a reprinting for an imprinting. Don’t be an illiterate graduate. You need to un-learn and re-learn. Each time you expand on the internal, you expand on the external. Stagnation on the outside means stagnation on the inside. Your gift to your mentor is your trust in his instructions.
(4) Eagles Love Storms
Eagles don’t break under pressure, they break through pressure!
In Genesis 50:20, it says: “But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.” Eagles use the wind from the storm to mount up into destiny. Storms don’t dismount an eagle, storms elevates an eagle. When a pigeon sees the storm approaching; it panics, hides and ruffles it feathers in a tree, complaining about it. An eagle on the other hand, gets excited about an approaching storm! God used the trial, not to destroy Joseph, but to distinguish him. I declare in the name of Jesus, a divine stirring in your womb of destiny. Your water is about to break, you are about to give birth to a new day! Glory to God!
Always trust the Holy Spirit to help you maintain the correct perception of a storm. A storm is an annunciation of an elevation. A storm is God’s pedestal of distinction. Trials are testing stations for testimonies. Pain is the platform for godly possibilities, and miseries are the opportunities for miracles.
(6) Eagles Renew Their Vitality
Eagle leaders rededicate themselves to their vision with youthful vigor!
In Psalms 103:5, God declares, “…who satisfies your mouth with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagles.” Eagles are full of life, but after every thirty years, their physical body condition deteriorates. What’s interesting is that the eagle never gives up living. It never retreats into depression. Instead, the eagle retreats into the mountains – mountains symbolize revelation and closeness to God.
Moses was called to a mountain. Jesus delivered the Beatitudes from a mountain. The transfiguration occurred on a mountain. A number of healings occurred on a mountain. The Great Commission was given from a mountain.
I declare new revelation will not be hidden from you. Fresh heavenly manna is renewing every part of your body, bank account, your marriage and your children today in the name of Jesus! God is giving your ministry or business a new break (revelation). God is removing old withered feathers. Your youth is being renewed. Unshakable stability and unending endurance is upon your life right now to run your race, to dominate in every storm of life and to win your race in the name of Jesus. Amen!
(7) Eagles Are Fearless
Eagles never surrender and never abandon their mission.
In the book of 2 Timothy 4:7, Paul declares, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Eagles can hunt and prey on animals as large as goats. Eagle leaders are not intimidated by the size of any problem. The level of reward you receive is decided by the level of problems you solve. Life’s problems are solved and handled with confidence when you upgrade yourself to a certain degree in God’s Word. When you upgrade yourself; you can silence any storm, stop distracting demons and you can speak when others are speaking.
